julie mifsud - principal designer

Principal designer Julie Mifsud founded her eponymous firm on the principles of inspired design, diligent project management, and a deep understanding of the designer-client collaboration.  With a background in retail and formal training in design and color theory, Julie believes the success of her firm lies in getting the entire design concept in front of the client.

Julie summarizes her approach: “I never want to leave the client frustrated or confused.  I want the meeting to feel productive.  I bring a minimum of three complete concepts, and a bag of material options.  From there my client and I collaborate together to determine the finishing details and direction of their perfect room.”

With traveling as one of her many inspirations, Julie’s designs have a European ease to them, allowing all the elements to feel effortless and acquired over time. Julie believes in creating a design that allows the space to breathe and is an extension of her client’s life. It should tell a story of what the client holds most dear, whether it is an expansive collection of family photos or a cabinet of curiosities gathered over the years, one should learn something about the person who lives in the home from the decor of the room.

The firm principles of inspired design, close client collaboration and project management through a productive billing structure have allowed Julie to have an expansive design business with a loyal client base that includes some of the Bay Area’s biggest personalities.

When not designing for clients much of Julie’s contributions to the community are through her philanthropic designs.  A frequent fixture in local designer showcase houses, Julie’s designs have been on display to raise money for St. Matthew’s Day School and University High School among others.  Julie also sponsors a local youth baseball team, and believes that a business’ success is deeply rooted in giving back to the community that supports it.  Visit Julie’s giving back page for a complete list of her philanthropic work.
